News flash about caring for shooting victims?

As a conservative minded man and an american I do care and I wish their families the best through this difficult time. However, the quote came to mind "One mans death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic" A bus full of my boys gets blown up in Kirkuk, or children get murdered on the streets of Chicago because they live two blocks over from where the person that killed them does. Where is the media when it comes to those stories of senseless violence? Where are we?
