I have a HP Pavillion AMD Athlon Dual-Core Processor TK-55 and it is making foghorn noises.?

My laptop is making foghorn noises, its windows vista, i didnt have any sound programs on when it made the noise, it has made the noise twice now and it is worrying, any help would be great, any ideas what it could be?
