Use green soap to wipe it with, and it'll come off. Make sure your tip fits the needle group you're using really well, and try powering your machine down to around seven or eight volts. You'll have far less spatter that way. Make sure that your needle group is flush with the tip when your foot is off the pedal, and set your contact point between the contact screw and the front spring btween the width of a dime for lining, and a nickel for shading.
